The stock replacement VW Turn Signal and Dimmer Switch fits 1968 through 1970 Beetles, 1968 through 1970 Karmann Ghias and 1968 through 1969 Type 3s. The turn signal
switch has eight wires but only five will be used; power in from relay, power out to left, power out to right, ground in for dimmer and ground out for dimmer. If you are
having trouble installing this switch, please refer to our Tech Tips for wire designations. The paint finish is less than desirable and we highly recommend repainting the
switch.

The aftermarket VW Turn Signal Switch wiring is a very simple circuit, even with the switch controlling the Headlight Relay. The designations for the wires are:
Black Wire (originally Black Wire with White and Green Stripe): 49a OR "L" Terminal on Flasher Relay
Black Wire with White Stripe: Power to left turn signals
Green Wire with Black Stripe: Power to right turn signals
Brown Wire: Ground Terminal on Speedometer Mounting Screw
Brown Wire with White Stripe: "S" Terminal on Headlight Relay
NOTE! The Grey, Red/Black & Blue/Black wires ARE NOT USED. We typically cut them at the switch and remove them before installation.
