EMPI's Decklid Rain Deflector is easy to install and covers the decklid louvers on 1968 through 1977 Beetles, 1958 through 1970 Beetle Convertibles, and 1971 through 1979 Super Beetles and Beetle Convertibles. The rain deflector helps keep rain out of the engine compartment while still allowing cool air in. The rain deflector is made from high impact black plastic and includes installation hardware. Installing the seal on the deflector can be tricky especially at the corners. A heat gun at the corners or boiling the seal for a couple of minutes will soften the rubber allowing it to make the bend smoothly.

Install the wingnuts onto the screws first (wings up, towards the head of the screw) followed by the washer. With the deflector in place on the decklid, thread the screw into the threaded boss, then tighten down the wingnut to secure it in place.
