Test fit the bracket and bumper before painting!
The VW Rear Left Bumper Bracket Mount
is the sheet metal panel that sits next to the left side of the rear
apron. The panel is the rear most portion of the inner fender well that
the fender bolts too and is also the left side of the engine
compartment. The left bumper bracket mount panel
requires trimming and welding for a proper installation and fits 1954
through 1967 Standard Beetles.
Previous accidents and body work can cause poor fitment of new bumpers and other sheet metal items. It is very important to test fit the bracket before painting it. This will allow any necessary body work to either the body or the fender to be done BEFORE painting. NOTE: All body metal parts are sent with a black, sprayed, rust inhibitor. This is NOT paint or a primer. It must be removed prior to applying primer to the sheet metal.
This includes bumper brackets, fenders, floor pans, aprons, deck lids ETC. Because this material is not a primer, it is not unusual for scratches to be found in this material. This does not affect the sheet metal as this material MUST BE REMOVED, thus also removing any scratches in the process. Of course dents would be considered excessive. All sheet metal is carefully inspected prior to shipping for dents. Any sheet metal that is received dented must be presented to the shipping carrier for a damage claim, REGARDLESS OF THE CONDITION OF THE BOX.
