Welded & Balanced, Doghouse Cooling Fan for for Classic VWs

The EMPI doghouse racing cooling fan is responsible for keeping the Volkswagen air-cooled engine alive. It is welded and balanced so that it can stand up to the higher RPMs that higher-performance engines are capable of spinning up to. The fan uses power transmitted through the generator or alternator to blow air through the oil cooler, cylinder heads, pistons, and cylinders, making it essential for the healthy function of the engine. VW engines are "AIR-COOLED" and this is the fan that moves the air, and without it your engine won't last long! This fan fits 1971 to 1977 Standard Beetles, 1971-1979 Super Beetles, 1971 to 1974 Karmann Ghias, 1971 Type 2 Bus models, and 1973 to 1974 Things. The fan blade is roughly 36mm wide.

If your engine is expected to spin past 5500 rpm, then a welded and balanced cooling fan should be installed, period. We have blown a A few stock German fans apart.

The fan is compatible with stock "doghouse" Type 1 and 2 fan shrouds as well as all aftermarket 36hp styled fan shrouds:
