Bosch 02006 Ignition Condenser for VW Distributors

The Bosch 02006 ignition condenser mounts to the distributor connects the ignition coil and the points. The condenser acts as a capacitor in a mechanical distributor and helps prevent arcing across the contact points to improves spark efficiency. As the distributor turns and the points open, the condenser absorbs the sudden surge of current that arcs across the points, allowing the magnetic field in the ignition coil to collapse cleanly and producing a strong spark at the spark plug. This condenser is designed to fit early model original VW distributors. The condenser fits 1954 and 1961 through 1964 Beetles, 1960 through 1964 Karmann Ghias, 1955 and 1960 through 1963 Type 2 Bus models, and 1962 through 1964 Type 3s.
