The exhaust elbow mounts to the left side heater box and the cross over pipe from the right side heater box and connects them to the muffler connecting pipe or catalytic converter.
The elbow has the connection for the EGR filter as well and fits 1975 through 1978 VW Type 2 Bus models.
The elbow comes painted with a grey primer that will burn off in time.
Two of the three bolt exhaust manifold gaskets and one, two bolt exhaust manifold gaskets are needed to finish the exhaust elbow installation.
The VW exhaust elbow is the connecting elbow on the left (driver side)of the exhaust. It is actually a 3 way connector that bolts to the left heater box and connects the cross over tube from the right heater box to the catalytic converter or muffler. The elbow also has the port for the EGR filter.
California Prop 65 Warning:
Please Note:The information listed below is for stock, unmodified VW's manufactured for sale in the US. VW's are commonly modified and very often parts from another year VW may have been installed on your car. California Pacific JBugs is not responsible for any errors if your car has been modified in any way.
Grey Primer is only a rust inhibitor!
If the grey primer is not removed before installation, it will burn off in a few hours. We recommend stripping the muffler with a good solvent or sanding the paint off and then painting the muffler with a high quality, High-Temperature Exhaust Paint. None of our exhaust components are warrantied against rust.
