Left Heater Box for 1975-1978 VW Bus

The heater box is one of the most important safety parts on your air-cooled VW. It mounts to the exhaust and uses that heat to warm the air that flows into your cabin. Over time, the metal around the heater box rusts through, letting warm air escape before it ever reaches you. Common signs of a bad heater box include little or no heat, louder exhaust noise, or the smell of fumes inside the vehicle. Because a rusted heater box can let carbon monoxide into the cabin, this is not a part to overlook.
