New (not rebuilt) Bare VW Cylinder Head for Dual Port Type 1 based engines is machined for 85.5 or 87mm Pistons & Cylinders. The head comes with 35mm Intake & 32mm Exhaust Valve seats & 8mm Bronze Valve Guides. The cylinder head has a drilled and tapped Fuel Injection Head Temp Sensor Hole. The heads are sold individually, 2 are required per engine. The VW dual port head is originally used on 1971 through 1974 VW Beetles & Karmann Ghias, 1971 Type 2 Bus Models and 1973 to 1974 Things. This head will fit 1500 & 1600cc VW Type 1 based engines that use 85.5mm or 87mm Pistons & Cylinders and dual port carbureted intake manifolds. (EMPI Part # 98-1355-B). The cylinder opening in the head is roughly 94.5mm.



Beginner Tips:

The VW Cylinder Head is made of aluminum. Due to the soft nature of the metal, they are prone to cracking. Common spots for the cracks are between the spark plug boss and intake and exhaust valves.

Bare heads do not come with valves, springs, retainers or clips. The intake and exhaust guides and seats are installed.
