The FK-7 cam pulls well up to about 5500 RPM, and it will rev farther but power drops off hard, so there is no point in putting more stress on the engine. If you want to rev higher than that, a different cam like the FK-43, FK-8 or Scat C95, would be a better choice. As this cam will lift .500", cylinder heads that can support that much flow will make the most out of the FK-7 cam. Dual, 2 barrel carbs are recommended for maximum performance and an almost stock like idle. A single, 2 barrel carburetor, or two, single barrel carbs will work, but the engine won't idle as well.
To wrap it up, this is a good cam for engines up to about the 2000cc mark that have good heads and dual 40/44 IDFs or HPMX carburetors. When using it with high ratio rockers it provides good useable power. The smoothed out lobe designed coupled with higher ratio rockers offer a quiet drivetrain with decreased engine wear for longer engine life!
All Type 1 performance cams are 3 Bolt, "early style" or "flat cams" and fit Type 1,2 & 3, 1200cc(40hp) to 1600cc based engines. The cam
requires a separately sold, bolt on cam gear and must be used with a "flat cam" style oil pump.

Setting proper valve train geometry is crucial when using high ratio rockers. FK series cams take advantage of the increase in lift that
comes with higher ratio rockers so they are a lot easier on the rest of the valve train. Engle’s FK cams are perfect for mild to high
performance street and full race engines.
JBugs (along with many other engine builders, racers and auto enthusiasts) recommends using an engine oil with
ZDDP or ZDTP or a ZDDP/ZDTP additive in your oil for all flat tappet camshaft engines!
