EMPI drop spindles are brand new units, not re-manufactured old cores! CNC machined to exact tolerances.
These forged drop spindles feature 1/4" outwards offset.
Clearance is usually not an issue. These spindles are the first step to a brake system upgrade
while giving you the built-in ability to lower your car an automatic 2 1/2" just by bolting them on.The spindles fit 1966 through 1977 Standard Beetles and 1966 through 1974 Karmann Ghias (Ghia disc brake models using these spindles will need to swap to drum brakes.)
Drop Spindles are not compatible with Super Beetles!
Ball joint drop spindles require 1968.5 and later style outer tie rod ends, inner wheel bearings and wheel seals.
We offer a complete kit with the spindles, tie rod ends, bearings and seals here so there is no need to go searching!
If you have a Beetle made prior to May of 1968 you will require the following:
PN#:311415811C Left outer tie rod end.
PN#:311415812C Right outer tie rod end.
PN#:311405645 Outer roller Bearings. (X 2 quantity)
PN#:311405625B Inner roller Bearings. (X 2 quantity)
PN#:111405641B Wheel Seals. (X 2 quantity)
Uses original steering geometry so the ride and handling of the car is not negatively effected.
