VW Bus to Beetle IRS Transmission Mounting Kit

Bolt-in installation of 002 or 091 IRS Bus trans into a Beetle chassis

EMPI's Bus to Beetle IRS transmission mounting kit makes it possible to swap the more durable 002 or 091 IRS Bus transmission into a 1962 through 1972 Beetle chassis. Converting to a Bus trans requires a larger CV joint at the trans side, so swapping to conversion Type 2 stub axles is recommended. When using a Bus transmission with stock IRS trailing arms, shorter 15 5/8" axles are required. If keeping the stock shifter and shift rod, EMPI offers a Beetle to Bus transmission coupler. Stub axles, axles (with or without CVs), and the coupler are all available as options. Clearancing of the body above the transmission may be required.
