This synchronous 2-barrel carb kit is perfect for street and off-road engines and will improve performance over a stock carb.
These kits are designed for Bug, Super Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Thing, Bus, Baja Bugs, and Sandrails, (to 1971 on Bus only). All kits are test run and adjusted for smooth performance.

The EGAS Carburetor Kit is not designed to be used with a stock fuel pump. An electric pump is recommended by EMPI. The kit, and specifically the intake manifold brace can be modified and used along a billet distributor clamp to flip the bracket and it can be used once it is clearanced for the inlet out outlet of an alternator style fuel pump.
Fuel Pressure MUST be set at 1.5 to 2 psi max! The 38EGAS carburetor is very susceptible to flooding out, with hesitation and stumbling off idle if the fuel pressure is too high. Before doing ANY tuning of the carburetor, make sure the fuel pressure is set and checked with a pressure gauge to less than 2 PSI.
In some instances, when installed with an alternator style charging system, the carburetor may (slightly) interfere with the large end of the alternator. A 5.5mm Carburetor Spacer can be used to lift the carburetor up to clear the alternator.
