The VW Ball Joint Torsion Leaves are the Stock Width (37.5") for 1966 through 1977 Standard Beetles, 1966 through 1974 Karmann Ghias and 1973 through 1974 Things. The torsion leaves are sold "per tube", two sets are needed per front, Stock Width, Ball Joint Beam. The torsion leaves are the springs that hold the front end of the car up off the ground. The torsion leaves are held in the front beam and the trailing arms attach to the them. As the trailing arms move up or down, the torsion springs in the beam twist to allow the suspension movement and twist or "spring" back.

The ball joint leaf pack consists of 10 torsion leaves. As they stack together, (1 narrow leaf, 2 narrow leaves, 1 wide leaf, 1 wide leaf, 1 wide leaf, 1 wide leaf, 2 narrow leaves, 1 narrow leaf) they create a serrated diamond shape. The leaf pack then "keys" or aligns into a block in the center of the beam to hold the leaf pack from twisting. A center set screw aligns with a drilled dimple in the leaf pack to secure the leaves. The front trailing arms then slide onto the leaves aligning with them and secure to the leaves with set screws.
