The genuine Bosch 04010 VW Ignition Rotor pushes on to the distributor shaft inside the cap. The rotor spins around inside the cap where it contacts the center post which gets power from the coil and sends power to the individual spark plug posts on the cap. The ignition rotor fits original distributors in 1961 through 1964 Beetles and Karmann Ghias, 1960 through 1963 Type 2 Bus models and 1962 through 1963 Type 3s.

Please note: The fitments listed are for what VW originally equipped the model listed with. It is very possible that after 40 years, the distributor may have been changed so we recommend verifying your distributor before ordering any distributor parts.
