It is now a cage-free egg. Ooh, our favorite kind. All right. Now, push out the rear window, unbolt the quarter windows, pull out the quarter panels, sun visors, and then we've got to cut out the windshield seal. Yay. Yay.

Hi guys, I'm Sam. And I'm Nick. And today we're going to install one of our new headliner cutting kits. We just need to cut out the windshield and then I don't know cuz I don't. Then we've got to pull out the front end and run the dome light wiring. Yeah. And then after that I don't know what the heck we're doing cuz I've never installed a headliner.

Well, you should watch a video. I did one on our YouTube channel. You've done one on our YouTube channel. Yeah. Actually, oddly enough, the very first headliner that I ever installed was on the 72. Was on my 70. Oh. And it was a charcoal tweed headliner just like that one. And it's the same color that you're going to be installing in this car.

You have a couple of choices on how you can pull out the windshield. Cut the seal and save the glass or you can break the glass and save the seal. The seals are much cheaper than the glass is. So, we're going to cut the seal. The rear window, you can literally just push these all out as one assembly. That's all I did. So, now I'm going to cut out the windshield seal. Cutting on the inside all the way around the perimeter. I'll do that. Nathan will film. I just can't see anymore. But there. I remember doing this in probably the first or second or something video. We're just going to cut this lip all the way around until we can pull out the glass.

Why do we have the front end off? Cuz we need to connect our dome light. So before we start covering up our hole and our access to our corner here, we're going to run our dome light wiring harness up, which means we had to pull off our hood so we can come in here. But our trunk is still the trunk. Oh, I need some electrical tape or some Gorilla tape. Sure, why not? So, I just ran a headliner bow down the A-pillar. I got our dome light harness on there. And just like that, now got our wires inside the car. And now make sure that our dome light wiring comes out our go light hole. Piece of duct tape holds our wires in place and locks off our spot because we don't want to glue this area because that's where our go's going to go with that.

Nathan, headlight padding. That's a lot of padding. Yeah. Take a mattress headliner padding kit and we'll break it out and show you where all these pieces go. Throw in the car. Nate, you want to show them how the headliner padding goes? Yeah. All right. What do we got?

So, this big oval looking piece goes right back there below the rear window. Check. This L looking thing, whatever side is longer goes up top. Ship. This piece goes right behind the quarter windows like that. Check. These guys with the angled cut goes up there. Check. Long piece goes right up the back of the door. Check. And this small piece goes right above the door. Check. What about the big huge piece over there, Nate? Where does that go? Up there. There we go. That's where all the pieces installed.

We're going to spend a few moments and start spraying some spray adhesive everywhere on the back sides of the foam on the body where the foam is going to go. A couple things we're going to make certain not to spray is the area right next to the body. We're right next to the window opening. We're not going to glue the foam in that area because we want the headliner to actually glue to that, not to the foam. So, when we're installing the foam, we're actually going to leave a small gap similar to this. And we'll trim back as needed. These are just general shape. You will do some trimming. You want to have a gap for the headliner to actually stick to the metal, not the foam. Work in a well-ventilated area.

Stay underneath the bottom. Like basically where the—yep. Wow. It's a very comfort tip on this. That down. All right. And since we have to wait for all this stuff to tack up, we might as well spray our glue along here and underneath here and above the door post on both sides because we're going to stick foam there eventually. Might as well. Yep. Again, so whenever we're next to windows, make certain that we don't spray right next to the window lift, but other than that, yep. Make sure we got good coverage.

Uhhuh. We got this tacked up. Yep. Let's try to find the center, I guess. Got to work it from the center out. I guess that would make sense. Like a Lego sticker. Yep. Hold that section. Your first radio. Hold that top section. This bone stretches. So, hold that top section and just—hey, hey, hey. Go ahead. So, pull up and make sure that we're staying on that line right there. Yeah. Pull up if needed. Stretch if needed. There we go. Perfect.

My hair is gone. Probably easier from outside. Wait, my arm got stuck to the wall and my hair got—pretty good adhesive, I guess. Look at that. Okay, let's go for a test drive and see how well the sound better though. There's no exact science with this stuff. Smack dab in the center of the car, which is right about there. And then trim it down. Just trim it down.

Yep. Start right here. Line up that top section and that straight section right there. Stretch it. Stretch down the bottom. All right. Now, we're going to take the razor blade and just come in and trim and trim down there. Yay. All right. You think you can do that same thing on that side? It doesn't seem like rocket science, so. All right. I got one section trimmed. Nate's going to try the other side. This is just foam padding. There's no perfection needed with it. Try and follow that contour, that window around that curve. Awesome.

There we go. That will do. Awesome. You guys get the idea. We're going to get the rest of these pieces put up. Coming along. We've got the lower panel in place. Cut out for our pop out window. And Nate's just working forward on this piece here. It looks so comfortable in here. You got that one in. You got this side in over here, too. Yeah.

All right. Now, now we can start working on the B-pillar. All right. And then we can work forward above the doors. Yeah. Keep it going. We got all the foam. We have all the foam above the door posts, above the quarter window, down the B-pillar. We have it trimmed for the seat belt and the rear seat crossbar. Cut back the edges a little bit at front and rear there. We have the pieces around the rear window. We have a lip. So, Nathan, that is how all the foam goes in place, right? Yeah.

Now that we have all the foam in place, the main roof portion needs to go in place. We've already sprayed the roof and it's already dry to the touch. We've got our main roof section. This is all glued up. Still a little bit wet. So, we'll wait a few moments for that to tack up. And then we'll stick that guy up there. And then it's going to be super soft. And then headlight. Yay. Yay.

Nathan, what do we got up on the roof? Stuff. All the padding. The fluff stuff. So along this side, we've got room above. It's easier to get one side where you don't have to cut. So you're not cutting both sides. So, in this case, we're just going to have to cut along that portion of the roof and that portion of the roof. We don't need to cut anything across the front or along this side. We can still come in above, tuck our headliner bows in there. On that side, we'll just do that side. We're going to trim the roof there and across the back. We'll get that section trimmed and that section trimmed.

And then what are we starting on, Nathan? Headliner. Yeah. Yeah. And Nathan, with that, we got the headliner and padding in. That's part number 41-055 on jbugs.com that fits basically 1958 through 1977. It's the same kit for sedans and sunroofs. That's how you install a headliner pad kit. Simple enough to do. Spray glue, scissors, razor blade, little bit of patience, well ventilated area, and there we go.

With that, thanks for watching. I'm Sam. And I'm Nate. And life's full of good people. If you can't find one, be one. Later, guys.
