Wiring Works VW Beetle Complete Wiring Kit - Internal Alternator

This complete wiring harness is for Beetle Sedans that have an internally regulated alternator (AL82) and do not have fuel injection. It fits late 1971 models with a column mounted wiper switch and a 12 circuit fuse box. These kits are great for repairing old dried out wiring or replacing the wires after a new paint job, and each kit includes detailed instructions to simplify the job. Steering column harness, fusebox, battery cables and relays are not included.

Note: This harness is modified to be used with an internally regulated alternator. If you have a factory installed, externally regulated alternator, the original wiring harness and plugs must be reused.

Note: The steering column sub-harnesses that attach to the ignition switch, turn signal switch and wiper switch are not included and are not reproduced. If yours are missing, they will have to be sourced from a wrecking yard.

Note: Wiring harnesses can only be returned if the packaging remains sealed. Once a wiring harness has been opened, it cannot be returned.

Will this fit my 1973 or later Super Beetle? Technically no. The modification needed to make this harness fit the 1973 and later Super Beetles is extensive and not recommended. To our knowledge, the complete harness for these vehicles is not currently in production.

The wiring installation shown is on a 1968-1969 VW Beetle. More wires and components are added and changed from early models to later models but the overall installation is very similar to what we cover in this video series.
