1960 VW Bug

Jason Wheeler

I bought this bucket a year and a half ago from a gentleman who rescued it from outside a barn in WY (from OG owner). He brought it home to CO and restomodded it with a monster 2276 & dual 44s. The car is not an OG ragtop, the top was grafted in from a donor car, and the rest of the mechanicals were refreshed or replaced. Carpet, seat covers, headliner, and all vinyl were replaced. Retrosound stereo with 2k w amp & sub.

Since I've owned it, I've had the engine swapped for a more modest 1776 w/ single Solex to improve reliability; rewired the car stem to stern, installed led headlights and tail lights to improve safety.

The paint is original - some of the patina is natural, some is a faux job.

Future plans:
Some rust repairs in the usual places still need to be addressed and the patina protected with a coat of clear. Maybe some new wheels.

This is my 3rd aircooled VW. I've owned a '65 Ghia, and '71 sedan as well. I've been interested in VWs since I was a kid. I am stoked to have found this '60. I drive it as often as possible. It's definitely a survivor. It is quite the head-turner.
