1969 VW Karmann Ghia

Tom Valeski

JBugs is like nothing else…best parts supplier, informed staff, quick deliveries…keep it up! So, here’s my 1969 Karmann Ghia convertible. Older restoration, with new interior, door panels, dashpad, windshield, paint, and rebuilt 1500 single port, with new generator, distributor (vacuum advanced), new carpeting…in the bonnet, and inside. (Restorer did  all this years ago, but all’s still intact.). I had the new top from JBugs installed, and the seat padding and cushions from JBugs I installed myself….great fit. I put new tires on it, registered it, and insured it as a 5-yr. Collector Car, so no annual emissions required.

It’s the 3rd Karmann Ghia I’ve owned (’58 Bamboo Coupe), but I've also owned an immaculate 1973 British Racing Green convertible with saddle interior and top, which I sold years ago for top dollar …$2500.( I don’t think about this too often.)  Nice features are a factory plate glass rear top window, and front disc brakes, of all things. Still looking for an original Blaupunkt 12v radio, as the seller had installed a high tech player with subs, most of which I’ve pulled out.
