1973 VW Super Beetle

Brian Osorio

This is my recently restored 1973 Super Beetle. This was my first car when I turned 16 many years ago. My grandfather bought it off of the original owner in 1992 with only 73k miles on it. It has been a Cali Bug since the day it was sold new and still is to this day.

The car bounced around as a family car for a while and post-college was officially transferred to my care from my grandparents as I was the only one that really loved it. Fast forward to 2018 and a restoration that had been put on hold twice due to two new additions to the family…

I stripped the car down to a rolling chassis and sent it in for paint. COVID delays and what have you…I got the car back in 2020 with fresh paint and installed a new 1915 with dual 40s, alternator, serpentine pulleys etc. Thanks largely to JBugs, a new interior with low backs, headliner, speaker tray, carpet was waiting in my garage along with a custom 911 dash, suspension, etc.

In March of 2021 I took my grandfather for a ride in our “new ride” for his 95th birthday and all he could do was laugh and cry at the same time. Memories only a generational car can give you.
